1. Warm Wood Tones
The use of warmer lighter wood tones are continuing to rise. This organic interior design trends pulls in an earthy color palette, to which warm wood furnishings compliment beautifully. We are going to be seeing a lot more warm wood pieces in 2023.
2. Ceramic Lamps + Vases
We have been seeing lamps and vases in varying shapes and textures becoming more popular. Many post-modern lamps with curved silhouettes have become increasingly in demand. Different organic mediums and materials such as ceramics, pottery and terra-cotta lamps have become trendy.
3. Natural Stone Slabs
Stone slabs are taking over all kitchen backsplashes and countertops. Solid stone waterfall edge countertops are cascading to the floor. Uniquely beautiful, these natural stone slabs truly enhance the space. This ties in with the trend of organic materials and finishes that is becoming increasingly popular.
4. Meaningful and Unique Decor Accents
People are embracing the use of family heirlooms and antiques by repurposing and incorporated them into various spaces in the home, from bookshelves to coffee tables. The home its supposed to be a unique reflection of the person living there, not a boring white box with perfectly matched accessories.
5. Natural Textures
Natural textures such as wood, rattan, plaster, ceramics, pottery and terra-cotta adds texture and warmth into a space, as opposed to hard and cold finishes such as metal and glass. There is a uniqueness and hand-made feel to natural textures that adds a level of artistry. We are seeing texture not only on walls, but on various decor elements such as vases and light fixtures.
6. Statement Rugs
Rugs are moving from boring neutrals to pieces of livable works of art. The number one mistake people make with rugs is using a rug that is too small for the space. The front legs of each pieces of furniture should be able to sit on the rug. Rugs that are too small can make the space seem cluttered, whereas larger rugs enhance the space. We are seeing an increase in larger and bolder rugs. Antique rugs are especially on trend.
7. Designer Laundry Rooms
No longer are the days where laundry rooms are boring and ugly rooms with the door always shut. A huge trend has been beautifully decorated (and still functional) laundry rooms. From accent walls to fun accessories and finishes, laundry rooms have gotten some serious upgrades.
8. Gold Finishes
Gold is back and is staying. Gold is being used for different finishes such as drawer and cabinet pulls, door knobs, and other hardware throughout the home. No longer are we seeing the brush nickel, which parallels with the over arching trend of warm tones over cool tones.
9. Arches
Arches are very on trend right now, from rounded door frames to thresholds and ceilings. The unique architecture of arches can bring in a sense of warmth and charm into the home that softens any space.
10. Organic Modern Design
People are moving away from the completely modern designs using only cold and hard finishes such as glass and metals. Instead, we are seeing people incorporate more warm materials like natural wood to soften the feeling and look of the space. It is all about choosing materials and finishes that balance each other out. Keeping the clean lines and minimalism of modernism and incorporating organic materials to bring in warmth and natural elements.
All of these trends can be tied in together into this overarching interior design trend of organic modern. Balancing the modern elements with warm and organic elements such as the natural textures, warm woods and natural stone. Even trending architectural styles as such arches compliments this organic and warm feel. This will be the top interior design style of 2023.
